Trump Says US 'Profoundly Respects' Africa In Letter To AU


President Donald Trump said the United States "profoundly regards" Africans and will dispatch its best negotiator to the mainland, in a letter to African pioneers seen by AFP on Sunday.

The letter sent a week ago comes after Trump incited a firestorm of ire among African countries prior in January when he purportedly called them "shithole nations" amid a gathering with legislators in Washington.

While Trump has denied the comments, they are relied upon to be formally denounced by the 55 part conditions of the African Union amid their progressing summit in the Ethiopian capital.
