Lightning has struck a Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rwanda, killing no less than 16 individuals and harming handfuls more, a nearby authority said Sunday.

Fourteen casualties were killed on the spot as lightning hit the congregation in the Nyaruguru area in the Southern Province on Saturday, neighborhood leader Habitegeko Francois told AFP via telephone.
